Bag Charge England: Reasons for the SUCB Charge

We take a look at the key reasons behind the 2015 Single Use Carrier Bag Charge in England.
The overall aim of the charge is to reduce litter caused by plastic bags and encourage the use of more sustainable, reusable bags.The European Union announced in April 2014 that member states must reduce the use of plastic bags by 80% by 2019.
Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have all introduced charges to great success, and so has helped England settle on regulations for 2015.
Between 2013-14, an estimated 70 plastic bags litter every mile of coast in the UK.
